Institute of Chartered Accountants 'Figured it out yet?' Student Challenge Promotion 2008
1 Information on how to enter and prize details form part of these conditions of entry. Entry into the Promotion is deemed acceptance of these Terms and Conditions. Entries not in accordance with these Terms and Conditions are deemed ineligible.
2 Entry is open to residents of Australia only who are 18 years of age or older at the time of entry. Employees, Directors, Sponsors (being the Not-For-Profit organisations), Sponsors' employees and those of the Promoter and their immediate families are ineligible to enter.
3 To enter the Promotion, entrants must:
- register by completing an online form at figureditoutyet.com.au;
- register their interest for any one or all of the three challenges by completing an online form at figureditoutyet.com.au;
- make a submission for each of the Challenges in which they wish to participate;
- participate in the conversation/interrogation/forum stage for each of the Challenges in which they wish to participate.
4 An entrant may only enter each Challenge once, either as an individual or as a member of a team. Teams are capped at a minimum of 1 person to a maximum of 4 persons. Entrants are individually and/or collectively (as the case may be) responsible for ensuring that their contact details submitted to the Promoter are correct. Entrants will forfeit their right to claim prizes in the event that their contact details are inaccurate or wrong.
5 The Promoter reserves the right to verify the validity of entries and to disqualify any entrant or the team of any entrant/s who tamper/s with the entry process or who submit/s an entry that is not in accordance with the Terms and Conditions of Entry. No responsibility will be accepted for lost, late or misdirected entries.
6 The Promotion will consist of three distinct challenges. Each challenge will run for approximately six (6) weeks. Challenge scenarios and/or question/s will be posted by the Promoter at the figureditoutyet.com.au website at the commencement of each Challenge. Entrants will have two weeks from the commencement of each Challenge to prepare and finalise their submission. Once a submission has been made, each entrant will have 2 weeks to participate in the conversation/interrogation/forum phase of each challenge.
7 Each entrant/team will be required to make one submission per Challenge. A submission may be a combination of some or all of the following elements: a video (of up to 10 minutes in duration); executive summary (up to 400 words); a picture; and/or supporting documentation (up to 3 documents) in Word, PowerPoint or Excel format.
8 Challenge 1 commences on Monday 3 March 2008 at 9.00am (AEDST) and concludes on Friday 11 April 2008 at 5.00pm (AEST) ("Challenge 1 Promotional Period"). Entry into Challenge 1 will permitted at any time from Monday 3 March 2008 at 9.00am (AEDST) to 11.59pm (AEDST) on Tuesday 18 March 2008.
9 Challenge 2 commences on Monday 14 April 2008 at 9.00am (AEST) and concludes on Friday 23 May 2008 at 5.00pm (AEST) ("Challenge 2 Promotional Period"). Entry into Challenge 2 will permitted at any time from Monday 3 March 2008 at 9.00am (AEDST) to 11.59pm (AEST) on Sunday 27 April 2008.
10 Challenge 3 commences on Monday 26 May 2008 at 9.00am (AEST) and concludes on Friday 4 July 2008 at 5.00pm (AEST) ("Challenge 3 Promotional Period"). Entry into Challenge 3 will permitted at any time from Monday 3 March 2008 at 9.00am (AEDST) to 11.59pm (AEST) on Sunday 8 June 2008.
11 A final judging panel of Chartered Accountants appointed by the Promoter, at the Promoter's discretion, will select the Challenge Winners from valid entries received during each Promotional Period at the Promoter's premises at 33 Erskine Street, Sydney, NSW, 2000.
a. The Challenge Winners for Challenge 1 will be selected during the period of 3 April 2008 to 11 April 2008. The Challenge Winners for Challenge 1 will be announced on Friday 11 April 2008 at 5.00pm (AEDST).
b. The Challenge Winners for Challenge 2 will be selected during the period of 12 May 2008 to 23 May 2008. The Challenge Winners for Challenge 2 will be announced on Friday 23 May 2008 at 5.00pm (AEST).
c. The Challenge Winners for Challenge 3 will be selected during the period of 23 June 2008 to 4 July 2008. The Challenge Winners for Challenge 3 will be announced on Friday 4 July 2008 at 5.00pm (AEST).
12 For each of the 3 Challenges there will be a 1st Prize Winner; A Presentation Winner; A Participation Winner; and an Innovation Winner. Entrants will be judged on presentation, participation (at the conversation/interrogation stage), innovation and content. Each entry will be individually judged based on literary and creative merit as well as technical knowledge, innovation, presentation and participation. The final judging panel will also consider student assessments as voted by participants on the figureditoutyet.com.au website. This is a game of skill and chance plays no part in determining the winners. The Winners will be notified by telephone, email or in writing within 3 days of being selected.
a. The 1st Prize for each Challenge will be an opportunity for the Entrant/s to present their submission to the Not-For-Profit Board or Management before taking a fully funded 2-week (14 day) trip overseas (if applicable) to witness the applicable Not-For-Profit in action (the project to be specified by the applicable Not-For-Profit). The 1st prize includes flights departing from Sydney up to value of AU$3,000 (inclusive of GST), accommodation up the value of $5,500 (inclusive of GST) and other expenses to the value of AU$3,000 (inclusive of GST). The prize must be taken as offered and cannot be varied. The value of the prize is inclusive of GST and is in Australian dollars and is the recommended retail value as provided by the supplier and is correct at time of printing.
b. The Presentation Winner for each Challenge will receive an Apple iPod Touch valued at AU499. The prize must be taken as offered and cannot be varied. The value of the prize is inclusive of GST and is in Australian dollars and is the recommended retail value as provided by the supplier and is correct at time of printing.
c. The Participation Winner for each Challenge will receive an Apple iPod Touch valued at AU499. The prize must be taken as offered and cannot be varied. The value of the prize is inclusive of GST and is in Australian dollars and is the recommended retail value as provided by the supplier and is correct at time of printing.
d. The Innovation Winner for each Challenge will receive a Macbook Air Laptop valued at AU$4,338 (inclusive of GST). The prize must be taken as offered and cannot be varied. The value of the prize is inclusive of GST and is in Australian dollars and is the recommended retail value as provided by the supplier and is correct at time of printing.
13 The total maximum prize pool is valued at approximately AU$65,500 (inclusive of GST).
14 In the event that for whatever reason, any prize is unavailable, the Promoter reserves the right to substitute the unavailable prize for a prize of equal or greater value, subject to the relevant state regulation. Except with the written consent of the Promoter, the prize is not transferable or exchangeable and cannot be taken as cash. The Promoter has absolute discretion as to whether it will provide such consent and need not provide any reasons to any person for providing or withholding consent.
15 In the event that any prize is not claimed within three months of the winners being selected, the Promoter reserves the right to award the prize to the second best valid entry in the respective category. In such circumstances, the new Winner will be notified by telephone, by email or in writing within 3 days of being selected.
16 The Promoter's decision in relation to any and all aspects of the Promotion is final and binding on every person who enters and no correspondence will be entered into.
17 The Winner/s agree to the use of their submissions, name/s, image/s and/or photograph/s for publicity, promotional purposes and for the Promoter's future promotions, without compensation, and agree/s that the Promoter will own copyright in any such images and photograph/s and in all material incorporating the photograph/s.
18 Disqualification of any individual who the Promoter has reason to believe has breached any of the Terms and Conditions, or engaged in any unlawful or other improper misconduct calculated to jeopardise the fair and proper conduct of the Promotion is at the Promoter's discretion.
19 The Promoter, each of its related bodies corporate, officers, employees and agents shall not be liable for any loss or damage whatsoever which is suffered (including but not limited to direct, indirect or consequential loss) or for any personal injury suffered or sustained in connection with any prize/s except for any liability which cannot be excluded by law.
20 The Promoter accepts no responsibility for loss or damage to prizes in transit. The Promoter makes no representations or warranties as to the quality/suitability of any of the goods/services offered as prizes. To the extent permitted by law, the Promoter is not liable for any loss suffered or sustained, to person or property and including, but not limited to, consequential (including economic) loss by reason of any act or omission, deliberate or negligent, by the Promoter, or its agents, in connection with the arrangement for supply, or the supply, of any goods or services by any person to the prize winners. This clause does not affect, and is not intended to affect, any rights a consumer might have, which are not able to be excluded under applicable Australian consumer protection laws.
21 The Promoter is not responsible for any problems or technical malfunction of any telephone network or lines, computer or online systems, servers, or providers, computer equipment, software, technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet or at any web site, or any combination thereof, including but not limited to any injury or damage to Eligible Entrants' or any other person's computer related to or resulting from participation in or down-loading any materials in this Promotion. The Promoter is not responsible for any incorrect or inaccurate information, either caused by the phone user or for any of the equipment or programming associated with or utilised in this Promotion, or for any technical error, or any combination thereof that may occur in the course of the administration of this Promotion including any omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, communications line or telephone, mobile or satellite network failure, theft or destruction or unauthorised access to or alteration of entries.
22 If for any reason this Promotion is not capable of running as planned, including but not limited to infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorised intervention, fraud, technical failures or any other causes beyond the control of the Promoter which corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of this Promotion, the Promoter reserves the right, subject to any written directions given under applicable law, to disqualify any individual who tampers with the entry process, and to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the Promotion. The Promoter reserves all rights to recover damages and/or other compensation as may be deemed appropriate from such an offender.
23 In the event of war, terrorism, a state of emergency or a disaster, the Promoter reserves the right (subject to any written directions under applicable law) to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the Promotion.
